Our pigs are a cross of Genesis and Duroc. We are working on developing a hardy breed of pig able to handle our harsh weather conditions without trouble. While we are working on this we are staying true to the “bacon class” of pig breeds for optimum meat potential. Our pigs farrow in our barn and share piglets, the piglets are then raised with mom until they are several weeks old. We do not sell piglets younger then 10 weeks this ensures they are doing well without mom's milk and are ready for their new homes. Our pigs are raised on grains we grow here on the farm. We grind these into our pig ration feed, we also supplement with a loose salt free mineral which helps with any rooting issues. Once the piglets are weaned, they are allowed access to free feeding and pasture in a 1 acre paddock.
